It was anyone's game. Though it was 10 years ago, the 1999 tournament still holds as one of the most thrilling tournament Finals ever. It saw Andy Hug in his last Final, Mirko CroCop in top form, and a legendary battle between Aerts and LeBanner that is still discussed today among fight pros and fans alike.

Helluva fight, helluva finish.

Emotions were already high in the lead up to the 1999 Final when LeBanner chose Aerts as his opponent at the lottery drawing to determine fight slots. The Frenchman grinned as he made his way next to the Dutch Lumberjack who commented with a dark smile, "you are the only person here who would be happy to be fight me." You could cut the tension with a chainsaw when the two met up in the ring, and the fight couldn't have been more dramatic had the two been wielding whirring blades of death. Each fight continued to build the tension as fighters got closer to the Championship throne. Up until the very last moment it seemed as if it was anybody's game.
