Round 1:
The fight starts like most Semmy fights do: front kicks and left straights galore. Ghita is keeping his guard up though, and has shown some nice tight low kicks and a straight right. Semmy is getting into his usual form with the jabs and knees when all of a sudden Ghita slams him with that right, and lands a high kick, and then another right. Semmy clinches and holds on but he is clearly being far more careful as the round ends.

Round 2:
Semmy comes out in classic Semmy form in this round, looking to make up for the first round. Front kicks and lefts and flying everywhere, and Ghita is having trouble just finding a chance to attack. He throws a hook that lands, but then gets hit with a high kick and several straights. Semmy grabs him and pulls him into a knee, and then peppers him with more punches until the round ends.

Round 3:
Ghita is staying on his toes and trying to stay in kicking range so they can exchange some lows. He is building up his low kicks and avoiding the worst of Semmyfs body kicks when he gets hit with a jab and crumbles. He takes the 8 count and gets to his feet and goes on the attack, only to be hit with a short right hook that drops him again. Once again the Romanian gets up and valiantly fights on, blood dripping from his brow, until the final bell.

Semmy is awarded the decision.

-- Are you happy with the fight?
Schilt : I won, so of course I'm happy. And I'm glad I can compete for the WGP crown.
-- You will probably be the favorite for the championship.
Schilt : Last year was tough, but I'll do well this year.
-- Do you think you've been losing because fighters are getting used to your height?
Schilt : What took them so long?

-- How is your injury?
Ghita : No problem. I'm fine. But I wanted to be more active and I wanted to KO my opponent. Schilt is a difficult opponent.
-- What are the strengths of the three-time world champion?
Ghita : With that experience, of course he is very strong. I think I did well in the first and second round. In the third I tried too hard to get a knockout and wore myself out. Then I got downed. It's too bad.
